The purpose of the work is to further develop the laboratory scale combustion characterization methods used at Åbo Akademi University. The gaseous combustion products are measured with on-line gas-anlayzers (CO2, CO, SO2 and NO) and the signals are mathematically processed (deconvolution). The different combustion stages (pyrolysis, char combustion and inorganic reactions) are identified from the results. The combustion characteristics are also studied using the single droplet combustion and single droplet pyrolysis techniques.
