Mål: Effektivering av byggnadsstensprospekteringen.Metoder: geologisk grundforskning.
The methods for exploration of dimension stone have been under development in the past couple of years in Finland. The location of dimension stone deposits is principally controlled by geological factors. If the combinations geological factors critical for the formation of a dimension stone deposit are known, the exploration can be made more efficient and potential areas for dimension stone are easier to locate.By combining the geological knowledge of the exploration area with the knoelwdge of the criterias for a dimension stone deposit, the exploration area can be diveded into smaller subareas with different potential for dimension stone, i.e. we can make prognoses. -The aim of the project is to seek ways to apply basic geological knowledge to the dimension stone exploration. The geological setting for five granitoids with dimension stone deposits in southern Finland is studied and examined how this can be applied in the exploration of dimension stone. The project aims to give an answer to the question: What kind of geologial factors are relevant in exploration of dimension stone in the study areas? The work also strive to give implications for the dimension stone exploration in general.
